Ongoing Meetings in community related to Veterans:  American Legion Post 125 meets usually the 3rd Thursday at 1900/7pm at Madras Senior Center located at 860 SW Madison. Veterans/Auxiliary meets same time/day but seperately. VETERAN BENEFITS:
Veterans have earned certain benefits as a result of their military service. Survivors and dependents of veterans may also have benefits available. However, these benefits are available only to those who apply for them.

The purpose of the Jefferson County Veterans Service Office is to provide assistance to Jefferson County veterans, their dependents and survivors in obtaining local, state and federal veterans' benefits to which they are entitled.

The Veterans' Service Office assists in obtaining benefits by:

1.      Advising those eligible on benefits available through local, state and federal veterans' programs.
2.      Helping obtain supporting evidence and public records.
3.      Filing appropriate forms and providing follow-up.
4.      Assisting in filing appeals and gathering new evidence.
  

Mission Statement:

      To help Jefferson County veterans, their dependents and survivors obtain their benefits as efficiently and courteously as possible.

Location and Hours:   

24 hour work week, Jefferson County.    W (scheduled appnt's),Th (outreach), Fri (walk in & home visits)

The Jefferson County Veterans Service Office is located at the Jefferson County Senior Center , 860 SW Madison, Madras; Madras Senior Center, and is open on Tuesday (w/Volunteer) while the office is staffed Wednesdays for scheduled appointments from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Patricia White, County Veterans Service Officer provides weekly outreach on Thursdays (subject to change).

 

OutReach Thursdays:    10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Free representation!!  Appointment available options are:  in person, by phone, by email, or home visits for necessary outreach.  Bus passes/Cascade East Transit available. 

The Jefferson County Veterans Service Officer is a County employee, not a federal VA employee.

                  ü     1st Thursday of every 3rd month, Fire Hall, 13033 SW Forest Svc Rd 1419, Camp Sherman . 

                  ü     2nd Thursday of each month Senior Center , 2331 High Lookee, Warm Springs. 

                  ü     3rd Thursday of each month Fire Station, 6730 Shad Rd, Crooked River Ranch.

                  ü     4th Thursday of each month Prison DRCI.  

 

Outreach/other ---  additional communites, healthcare facilities, institutionalize/housebound veterans, and community organizations etc.
                 

                 

HOME VISITS available for elderly senior people with disabilities or those with medical mobility restrictions.

VIC: Veterans Informational Class - a presentation customized for your group! ie: neighborhood subdivision, churches, physical fitness centers, employer businesses for the staff or to draw in the public to their organization, schools, government agencies, non profits, etc,.  email: veterans@co.jefferson.or.us, and put VIC request in subject please.

VA Medical DAV transportation to Portland and surrounding VA medical facilities: DAV Van line (541) 678-5457. LOCAL transportation from Jefferson County to VA Medical facility Bend clinic - Rural transportation line (541) 408-5853  (408 LUKE).
